Re: MACRO TRENDS

I have been cryptically alluding to broad trends. Let me elaborate. I think that it is no accident that companies like Documentum are sliding now. Open Text's product is the only one in the world which is really designed from the ground up to do what it does, with a Web-based intuitive interface. Others are coming on the market, eg. efforts from Lotus, but it may very well be that these are all attempts to 'Migrate' quirky proprietary counter-intuitive products into a Web/Intranet model and then capitalize on the trend through flashy marketing.

But more to the point, I read a couple of things about a couple of OTEXF customers that I think are very profound.

1. Siemens owes its success to being a company which, at a certain point in history, made brilliant and decisive moves to embrace new technologies.

2. Hewlett Packard has the world's largest computer network, and is proud of its status as the world leader in collaborative, international, networked work processes.
