Paul--

The best time of year to visit Italy is spring or early fall. But both are tricky, as long periods of rain can hit when you least expect 'em. This month has, for example, been absolutely gorgeous. I would, therefore, not make any plans for April. It will pour. All month. And if it doesn't happen then it will in May. It's sorta like the Fed and rate hikes.

September is often very nice, though it can be hot until around the tenth (I speak only of the north; obviously it stays warmer longer in the south--if you go there, October's usually pretty good). But of course it can rain then, too. Forget the November-early February period.

Forget July as well, unless you really enjoy scorching heat without adequate air conditioning anywhere. June's dicey, late August can be okay, though still hot.

But I suspect it beats Siberia almost any time.

Janice
