What we do know is that LQID holds the most promising answer to mp3 piracy, the music industry is running out of patience, and high quality media distribution is the next big movement of the net, therfore we make an EDUCATED BET on LQID.

Fair enough. As part of doing my DD, I decided to install the LQID player and try it out. I'm on a high speed ADSL link to the Internet, but I'm behind some firewalls. So far I've had no luck in getting it to work. AFAIK it isn't possible to configure their player to traverse a firewall, their recommendation that I reconfigure the firewall is out of the question.

This is a pretty fundamental problem, and came as a big surprise. Granted, firewall access is not typical for home consumers, but I have found that the quality of Internet enabled software is often reflected by its ability to traverse firewalls. This is not a promising start.
