penni, you poor thing -- The Russian word for "Hello" is the hardest word to pronounce in the whole language...:-)
I kid you not. Here we go. For children, I will use the dimunitive (detki) rather than the "normal" form (deti):
Transliterated:
Zdravstvuitye, detki.
Phonetic spelling (stress on first syllable in each word):
Zdraffst-vooit-ye, dyet-kee.
Try to get that "vooit" sounding like a dipthong ("oo" and "i" blended). If you can get through the consonant jam in the first syllable, you should be home free. <g>
By the way, the script SHOULD say "do svidanya" (literally: "until meeting"). Pronounced the "o" in "do" more like an "o" than an "a." Stress is on the second syllable: svi-DAN-ya.
Don't worry, you're not really saying "Die, small, filthy, vermin." And even if you were, how many people would be likely to catch on? <g>
How's the accent coming?
