RE: <i'll pay $125 more for rmbs than 133. i'll also not buy 133 when 100 will do the same thing. i'm serious. i'm looking to up grade and will not put money into passe' tech. reading the last post shows me nothing to be gained from 133.>

If you have extra money to spend and want more performance from your computer, buy more memory. If someone offers you a faster dram at twice the price don't take him up on it. Just buy twice as much of the slower dram and your performance will be much higher than with half as much of the faster dram. If you still have more money to spend then double your memory again.

The truth is that slow downs due to accessing disk dwarf the performance differences between any of the drams available. Just buy as much of the cheapest dram that you can afford. Microsoft memory bloat will make you glad you did.

Since PC133 are essentially the same die size as PC100 and can use the same test equipment and same package, they can quickly reach the same price as PC100 chips. So switching from PC100 to PC133 is like a free upgrade that the dram infrastructure can handle in an invisible way with no risk to anyone. DRDRAM has a larger die size and requires new and expensive test equipment so there is no free upgrade. There has to be a good reason to switch to it. The reason just isn't evident yet.
