est Cafe Profit Slips 17% MINNEAPOLIS -- Rainforest Cafe Inc. said earnings for its second quarter declined 17% to $3.9 million, or 16 cents a diluted share, from $4.7 million, or 18 cents a share, in the year-ago period despite improved revenue. The theme-restaurant operator said revenue for the period totaled $67.5 million, up 25% from $53.9 million. But comparablestore sales at units open at least 18 months fell 11%. Rainforest said it is developing a new menu, which should appear late this year.
