Mike Baricle is among the worst: JOHN'S NO. 1 FAN We hate to belabor the Mike Barnicle-is-a-blowhard issue, but what did omnipresent ''Kennedy family friend'' really think of John F. Kennedy Jr.? The ex-Boring Broadsheet big foot described John in a 1997 column as ''a very nice young fellow'' with a ''fine head of hair.'' Not so nasty. But the column, which was about John's now-famous Editor's Letter in George where he called cousins Michael and Joe ''poster boys of bad behavior'' quickly took a turn for the worse. And that's when Mike Barnicle Kennedy let loose and wrote: ''It's more than a distinct possibility that JFK Jr. has the body of Joe Piscopo and the brain of Sonny Bono. Not good.'' Funny, we don't remember Mike telling that to Matt Lauer on ''Today'' or to David Gregory on MSNBC or Chris Black on CNN or CNBC's Chris Jansing or . . . But then further down the column, Barnicle really tossed in the vitriol: ''JFK Jr. comes off sounding like some thin-lipped dim-witted, bad-backed polo player whose empty head can barely retain enough limited cocktail chatter to get him through a dinner with that international moron, Princess Di.'' bostonherald.com
