My cat stays flea-free with Advantage, an ointment that
I got at the vet. It's applied to the back of the cat's neck
once a month as needed.

A "Flea Adulticide", Advantage calls itself and claims that
it "kills 98-100% of the fleas on cats within one day of
treatment".
