Rich, of course the short interest did not increase during the period you showed. That is because that is when the stock is tanking.

However, the short interest did increase by at least 800,000 shares between the time Castle Creek became involved and the time the floorless conversion window opened. With over a million shares short in January, that amounted to about $30 million bet in favor of a fall in the stock price.
