On last years share buyback

There is some question out there as to whether these shares were all acquired on the open market or were also bought back from large shareholders, and, at what prices.

Whereas IBM continued its buyback program, Novell did not. This happened even though the price declined to a point where it would have made sense, with stagnant revenues and no realistic need for acquisitions on the horizon, to acquire more.

Were insiders shares bought at higher than market prices? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Can we find any evidence of the source of the shares purchased by Novell?

The problem with this horde of cash is the pocket that it ends up in. Certainly the WP buyout smelled all the way to China.

Schmidt has to be very careful about any plans to diminish the cash. I have a feeling that unless carefully supervised Novonyx could eat up a real chunk of it without anybody looking.
