Jim,, There is a lot of activity among the major computer makers this morning.

Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ:SUNW - news) added $2.44 to $69.63. Sun reported a $0.48 per share profit for its fiscal
fourth quarter, in line with estimates and 37% higher than the previous year. Management said that it is pleased with the
quarter, and is more confident that Y2K problems will not hamper sales for the remainder of the year.

Gateway (NYSE:GTW - news) is the big winner, popping $7.50 per share to $70.38. The No. 2 maker of personal
computers earned $0.56 per share for the second quarter, beating the average estimate by a penny. A number of brokerages
then upgraded the shares.

Compaq Computer (NYSE:CPQ - news) shed $0.31 to $24.69. The company announced that it is promoting chief operating
officer Michael Capellas to fill its CEO vacancy.

Magic 25 company Dell Computer (NASDAQ:DELL - news) also added $1 per share to $40.63 in sy
