>>Apple Computer Inc. could be among the first PC makers to use double-data-rate PC266 SDRAMs in a desktop system, sources said. Apple is working out the part's clock-timing issues in order to use DDR as main memory in upcoming systems.

DDR is expected to debut late this year or in early 2000 in PC servers in the frame-buffer memory of graphics chip sets.<<

james,
i would never question apple's abilities in the graphics arena.
having said that, i can say that we are still waiting to see a working ddr model 1. this is ddr model 2, and i have no idea about it.

i can tell you that sony evaluated high speed ddr, declared it unstable and committed to rambus.

pixelfusion has a rambus drdram graphics chip to go into workstations this year. i do not know if it is expandable for servers. i'd bet a nickel they are working on it.

intel has an intensive ongoing program to produce a rambus enabled server chipset. it isn't here yet either. i think everyone will go with the best once it is developed.

in the grand scheme, servers are projected to be 15% of rmbs revenues.
