Sorry, Sarkie, had to step out a bit. The story is the lead in today's business journal. Filing by the end of the month, 2-3 billion IPO, most likely in October. Charter can't tell who the underwriters are until the documents are filed, but Goldman helped them earlier and AG Edwards, based in St. Louis, has helped them in the past. Bruce Leichtman, an analyst with the Yankee Group estimated Charter would need to spend at least 1 billion to realize "Allen's 'wired world' strategy of delivering video, data and telephone services over one pipeline."
The article is extensive - I wish I were better at scanning.
The article ends with speculation that while the SEC reviews the IPO, Charter execuives will stage a "road show" to make a sales pitch to potential investors [as if this is necessary!]. Might hit 12 US cities, and 6-8 outside the US, including London and Paris. An analyst with Huntleigh Securities her in St. Louis said he envisioned promoting the IPO over the internet with slide presentations and Q&A sessions.
