Debunking the crapola...

Here is a recent quote from the register:
theregister.co.uk
Further, S3's results may lead to a re-evaluation of the takeover bid on Diamond, our source added. Nvidia could be top of the list in the running, he said.

This quote clearly points out that Magee's source
A) is from S3
B) Hasn't a clue what the difference is between a board company and a chip company.

Another spicy bit:
A hardware page, FullOn3d, reported the lack of the 3500 board yesterday, and that was confirmed by reliable sources close to the company today. The problem is overheating and that may lead to a redesign of the card, the sources added.

Reports clearly show that the 3000 is easily clockable into the high 80's (3500 speed) and that the major limitation seems to be the SDRAM type. I'm not denying that there has been a delay. I just find the reason highly circumspect.

Simply put: the Register's sources suck.

There were more rumors posted today about S3 only buying Diamond to fend off the evil hostile takeover from 3dfx. I won't even dignify this garbage with a link. There is no friggin' way 3dfx is doing anything hostile with half the market cap of S3. Gimme a break.
