Bruce, I do not like to take exception to anything you post, because I usually agree with what you have to say, and like the way you say it.

But I would like to explain what I was talking about, if you don't mind.

As I tried to point out to Christopher, money itself has no ideology, but those who have money and/or make money do.

To repeat myself once again -- it was Karl Marx who first developed the concept of ideology: a system of ideas molded by the economic interests of a specific class. All subsequent definitions have essentially been a variation on a theme originally composed by Marx.

Anyone who thinks the "corporate class" does not have an ideology reflecting its particular interests -- the ideology does NOT have to comprehensively embrace EVERYTHING in the world -- has not read very many company press releases or lobbying literature.<g>

You seem to be using "ideology" in a totally different sense, to mean a "collection of principles", "consciously embraced convictions", which -- heaven forbid! -- should ever be linked to selfish interests. That is not the sense in which it is normally used --in sociology or philosophy, at any rate.
