the current administration seems to have learned a lesson or two (via the hard way) in that their interference(s) in domestic issues carry the risk of negative consequences (i.e., Ruby Ridge, Waco, Oklahoma City, etc.).

I am sorry but the only thing I think they learned was to try to ban guns, tag propellants, and keep records of large ammonium nitrate purchases. I don't think that they learned they should not have messed with these folks.

Do you feel that it should be the U.S. Government's job to protect its citizens from such possible contingencies? I am speaking specifically of such scenarios as chemical and biological attacks.

I absolutely believe that is what we are spending money on the CIA and FBI's budget to do. I think they should be responsible.
