Thanks very much for thinking of me. I swear you got a lot of patience to read all through that stuff. There's a few interesting features in there I didn't know about.

Seems like MS has changed the layout of their free on-line support system. I think I liked it better the old way. I'm having more trouble finding stuff than before.

I haven't figured out exactly how those newsgroups work yet, but after several hours I saw that one of my messages showed up. I'm not real worried -- I'll pick it up as I go along.

This is how I understand Triffin's question: In Netscape the mail program is part of the browser. So, if the browser is open the mail functions are working and you are notified of new mail.

OTOH Outlook Express must be started independently of ie, so it is possible to run the browser and not be notified of new mail. The only way around this that I know is like Wayne said, to open Outlook Express and run it minimized. Chalk one up for Netscape I guess...

BTW, it's not Netscape anymore -- it's iPlanet
