More SystemWorks stuff ...

I get the impression from your post that File Sweeping finds a number of 'questionable' files which you may or may not need.

Since you have SystemWorks, you can click on Information, (Norton's, not Microsoft's) and choose the Memory tab. Make sure the Library box is checked and click the Details button. You'll get a bunch of file names in the little window. Search for the file you're curious about, select it and click Details. You'll get another 'tree' dealing with this file. One of the choices will be Used By. Click this to see what needs this file. You can 'go direct' with right clicks too. You'll need to experiment to discover what you like.

Example from my system at this moment:

Once I checked the Library box, I highlighted (selected) MSWSOCK.DDL, right clicked and chose Details. In the new window, I expanded the '+' box beside Used By, and the following list was displayed:

Program Manager
Connected to ISP
Respond to COMPUTER LEARNING - Microsoft Internet Explorer

I suppose it would be a poor idea to delete this file.

This may help you decide if the file you're thinking of deleting is a worthwhile candidate or not.

Cheers, PW.
