Additional anecdotal evidence:
I took my son to an ice cream parlour recently.
The woman inline ahead of me used a Mastercard
to pay $10.35 for 4 cones and sundaes. Her appearance
and mannerisms suggested inexperience with credit cards.
The buildings on either side had cash machines.
For some reason, the episode bothered me. At a time
of "full employment", the "new era" has moved to
the "borrowing extreme" for credit card usage.
Furthermore, the grocery store around the corner had
much cheaper offerings by the half gallon. FWIW. WDIK.
