If it is causing the major record labels to **** in their pants then we must be onto something.

The article does raise the interesting scenario of the recording artists controlling and marketing their own music without needing a record label. It seems to major advantage the record labels have is their distribution infrastructure with record stores. And this distribution infrastructure could already be an anachronism.

I would rate the internet as momentous as the invention of the printing press. So God only knows what will become of all this.
