k-whatever,

Re: Let's see. 440BX price jumped from $26.78 to a whopping $33.50. At the same time the 440BX shortage is
delaying sales of $600 Pee-IIIs. These are wonderful news for Intel.

I doubt if PIII is of the quantity magnitude yet to be affected here. The newest baby gets the most attention.

The key to me is the Intel statement that it's a nice to have problem. I guess I can understand your take, though, because an AMDolt wouldn't know a nice-to-have problem if it hit him between the eyes.

We're acknowledging a shortage of BX and
ZX parts, and we're working quickly to meet
that [demand],? said a spokesman for Intel,
Santa Clara, Calif. ?It's a case where demand
for the product continues to be extremely
strong. It's a good problem.

Also, the price delta is meaningless, it's the signal of a big demand pickup that is the good news for Intel.

Jealous.
