The fact remains that JFK did not commit beyond 15,000 troups. Whether he was going to pull out or escalate is immaterial.

Everytime the North would come to the table to talk LBJ would bomb the North therefore driving them away from the table. Didn't appear that he wanted the war to end. Nixon bombed Cambodia against the wishes of congress.

JFK said in a speech that "Ultimately it was their war".

One of the biggest problem fighting the Viet Cong was their ability to disappear via an underground tunneling network. The USA never realized the extent of this underground network until the war was over. The Viet Cong would disappear across the border too escape.

BO GRITZ America's most decorated Green Beret (with 62 citations for valor), who has run for President, spent much of his time
fighting in Cambodia. The movie "Apocolyspe Now" was based on his activities (According to Bo) there. Very interesting man BTW. Bo has recently attempted suicide.
