RESEARCH ALERT - Sportsline <SPLN.O> downgraded

NEW YORK, July 23 (Reuters) - Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown said Friday it cut its rating on Internet sports news publisher Sportsline USA Inc. to buy from strong buy.

Further details were not immediately available.

The company reported an 86 percent jump in second-quarter revenues to $13 million Thursday as net losses widened to $12.3 million.

Bear Stearns analyst Matt Esh also said he raised his revenue estimates for 1999 to $57.3 million from $54.2 million and for 2000 to $112.4 million from $100.7 million.

"However, due to our forecasts of lower gross profit and increased marketing spending, we are raising our 1999 loss per share estimate to $2.62 (was $1.90) and for 2000 to a loss per share of $2.27 (was $1.20).

"We are maintaining our neutral rating on shares of SportsLine."
