Milehigh Lets play a game of what if. One of the main things that bothers me most about Rambus is, it reminds of a drug company with this potentially fantastic cancer fighting drug...BUT, still needs FDA approval. If it gets it The sky's the limit, but if it doesn't watchout below. (a.k.a. Camino Chipset / Intel backing) Based on the present Rambus P/E of 350 plus est??? What would happen if Intel pulls the plug on Camino?? Of course that won't or couldn't ever happen??? But what if?? How much of the present valuation of Rambus is based on PC's sales??? What happens if they FINALLY bring out Camino but after 6 months ( due to Y2K concerns or whatever) sales are way below expectations?? What happens to the valuations? Finally and I know everyone thinks this is the least likely thing to happen.... The market finally Crashes, it tumbles 4000 points over a 4 week period or LESS, and takes months or even years to regain it's losses. What happens to valuations? As is often stated about many stocks with MUCH lower valuations than Rambus..It is priced for PERFECTION, NO! room for error. But we all know how rarely such Perfection occurs.. Is Rambus the Miami Dolphins or the Buffalo Bills?? I would hunch they are the Denver Broncos.. They will fail a few times along the way but win in the end, but were also far from Perfection. Just a few thoughts for a Saturday evening... regards Don
