Pakistan ,as it exists now, is not welcome into the family of nations and into the 21st century. Change you must, because your people want it.
1:Indian Muslims by and large demonstrated their allegiance to India overtly. This overt demonstration of patriotism is not due to fear of Hindu backlash, but a genuine affiliation. They see themselves more in place with India than Pakistan. Pakistan ,as far as they are concerned, is an enemy. Their patriotism transcends commonality of religion, which is practiced inappropriately in a virulent and rabid form, totally against the precepts of Sacred Koran by Mujahideen.
2: Indian Muslims fought in this Kargil conflict valiantly. Lives and limbs were lost .
3: Consider this: Indian Muslims in Pakistan are mere Mohajirs. Mohajirs are not first-class citizens in Pakistan. That being so, why would an Indian Muslim want to feel a kinship with Pakistanis? Indian Muslims have more freedom than their counterparts in Pakistan. Religion is not necessarily an equalizer here in Pakistan.
4: The so-called Mujahideen are not really freedom fighters, but a collection of misfits from various nations, vestigial remnants from past conflicts, antidemocratic, and antikoranic rebels who need a conflict to justify their existence. A conflict, misplaced ideologies, misperceptions, anti-people, anti-west , anti-Indian , & anti-Israeli stance are the common ground for their allegiance, existence and sustenance.
5: Musharraf, a confirmed Mohajir and Army chief wanted to show to Pakistanis that he is more pro-Pakistani than Pakistanis , more anti-Indian than Pakistanis and he demonstrated his supermohajir patriotism in Kargil eventually resulting in failure. His misplaced patriotism to initiate the Kargil conflict hoping to create chaos in Kashmir, & his inability to anticipate vigorous Indian response and disapproval from the world nations ,are not particularly viewed kindly by prudent Pakistanis. When the tide turned against him in Kargil, Sherif was dutifully advised by him to run to the busy president on the 4th of July to save face.
The Chinese kept the Pakistanis at a distance with their bamboo pole, when the pakis ran to them for support and the Americans waved Sherif off with the flag.
Pakistanis are slow in realizing that the Chinese and the Americans are realigning their stance towards India and Pakistan in India's favor. Unstable regimes are a liability, esp with a nuclear capability.
The world recognized their duplicity, when Sherif embraced Vajpayee on a peace trip and at the same time surreptitiously built bunkers on the high mountains inside India.
6: Many Pakistanis are seething with internalized anger because the Govt of Pakistan will not accept the bodies of dead Pakistani soldiers in order to perpetuate the duplicitous claim that the soldiers are not Pakistan's sons. Eventually Pakistan had to accept their sons. Hey listen, they died too for their country, however faulty the idea was.
7: France stopped delivery of planes to Pakistan at the request of India.
8: Americans , Indians and the west are not going to view Pakistan kindly for fomenting trouble, death and destruction and for harboring and not ejecting the so-called freedom fighters who blow up embassies , people and properties.
