gold's store of value supported the $ via it's nature based scarcity.

Then why is the yen been constantly so strong and trying to get stronger, even though they pay a measly 1/4-1/2% interest on deposits??

Isn't it plausible that should the US fall into a similar situation as Japan, the US dollar will become overly strong as well, despite the Fed trying to lower rates to stimulate growth??
