Yes, I can see two ways to put a Zip drive in a laptop.

1. The manufacturer could just build the IDE Zip drive into the laptop. This will be done, later, when the Zip drive has clear dominance. The IDE Zip drive can be a boot drive, just like a floppy. 3.5" compatability will be abandoned, just like 5.25" was.

2. Both Toshiba and Compaq have laptops with removable Floppy drives. Then you can plug in a CD-ROM. The same could be done with a Zip drive. I believe these use the IDE interface. Toshiba or Compaq, OR IOMEGA could offer a Zip drive module to plug into this slot.

Finally, Iomega is going to offer the external, parallel Zip drive with a battery pack for laptop users.
