Ed: On what do you base your statement? Why don't you join a daytrading chatroom and lurk it for a month or two and then make your comments? Daytrading is more "money management" than stock picking and the true daytrader is tracking a stock tick by tick and will buy when they believe the bottom, atleast for that run is reached. When I buy a stock to daytrade the first thing I do is call up my sell screen. If it continues downticking I hit the sell button. If it just sits there and does nothing I hit the sell button. If it continues to uptick I will hold until the first downtick and hit the sell button. In any case, it will get sold from a few minutes to a few hours. Do not try trading like this with just any broker. Speed is critical on getting your buy & sell confirmations and being able to get out quickly. I was a longterm trader for many years until I finally caught on to daytrading and I will never go back to buying & hoping a stock goes up if everything goes OK. The older I get the less patience I have for playing longterm. I want everyday to be payday. Have a nice day.
