I was fairly new to the investment game back then, and made some very serious mistakes >> The reason that you lost money on your early solar investments is that shortly after Reagan became president he took steps to strangle the infant solar industry in it's crib. Virtually all of the solar startups then went belly up. He also had all of the solar devices that Carter had installed on the White House roof removed. I often wonder where the solar industry would be today if he hadn't done that. I have a simple solar panel on my roof that preheats the water in a tank separate from my regular electric water heater.
