I happened to look at the Charlotte's Web website again, and while it is basically the same, some of their Aranea 1 technical specs have changed - for the better. This is quite a router!

The changes appear to be aimed at their Nexabit competitor. They now match up better with the Nexabit box, and remember that the Nexabit box has NO Gigabit Ethernet support at all - a major advantage for Aranea.

They now say their switching fabric is 200Gbps cell based non-blocking - up from 128Gbps, and over Nexabit's 160Gbps.

Their max routing table entries is now 1 million - up from 256K, and now the same as Nexabit's.

They now have added OC-192 (10Gbps) ports - up to 32, whereas their max was OC-48 ports before. Nexabit supports 16 OC-192, moving to 64 in Q4.

They now add the statement "Cisco compatible configuration scripts".

They now add a NEBS compliant bullet point

They also now include line card information and refer to a release 2.0:

- dual OC-48 (POS or IP/ATM)

- octal OC-12 (POS or IP/ATM)

- octal OC-3 (POS or IP/ATM)

- octal Gigabit Ethernet

- Quad OC-48 (Rel 2.0)

- OC-192 (POS or IP/ATM) (Rel 2.0)
