Thanks chalu2, there is a book on Nanking at Amazon that I have been planning to read. Another interesting subject of that time period is the last emporer of China (forgot his name) and his association with the Japanese. There was that movie "The Last Emporer" that dealt with him, and they presented him as a sort of patsy to the Japanese, selling out his people and all.. I'm not sure how accurate that is.
