Elmer, I suspect this is all part of the game, AMD doubtless has some Athlons going to OEMs, and some have insisted that none go retail until they get a chance to be first. Then again, why release the CPU until mobos are there?, perhaps to pet them and feed them for a while, or I have heard they are good for bloodletting, just place one on your arm, pins down, and strike sharply with a stick, as good as any bloodletter Sharpie's bosses used.
Unlike AMD Intel has mobos ready for the P-III-600 and selling a precious few retail to spike AMDs guns is par for Intel. Why are there no rumors of parts going to far places(OEMs)? I wonder if there are none to be had at any price because they cannot be made. Some word from AMD is appropriate if only to forestall such wordmongery and speculation as this.
