The U.S. taxation system appears to be heading us more towards socialism every day. That's really what the discussion is all about- capitalism versus socialism. Which do you want?

Now ideal socialism has its good points. Every person is cared for by the gentle arms of the Government. All are supposedly equal. The poor are lifted up and the rich dragged down. It all sounds so good.

Any one who ever lived in a socialist country can tell you the inherent problems with it. Numero uno is Incentive. Where is the incentive to work hard, to create a winning formula, to excel in your work- if the government is going to give you the same reward as the lazy alcoholic in the next cubicle.

It is noble to try and remove the 'capitalist greed' from people's lives- but it just does not work in practice. If you remove a person's motivation, you kill his soul. That is why the soviet system crumbled. That is why the chinese system has begun to evolve, and will ultimately disconnect with socialism.

Capitalism is far from perfect- but if you can throttle the greed- it works quite well. All have the opportunity to prosper according to skill and desire.

Just my 2 cents,
TW
