*China/Taiwan/USA/cdmaOne/Sheeps/APEC* News today, Bill Clinton and Jiang Zemin have accepted an invitation from Prime Minister Jenny Shipley to stay on in New Zealand after the APEC meeting to see if they can't resolve some differences. My old mate Mike "Free Trade" Moore, who is newly appointed as World Trade Organisation CEO or whatever they call them will presumably act as the Chairman of the meeting and try to persuade Jiang and Bill that free trade would not result in New Zealand decimating their respective economies and might even enhance the total happiness of both China and USA while not harming their national security.

I tell you, it's hard work getting these big powers to behave nicely, [one the world's sole remaining superpower, the other with more humans than have ever existed in one country]. China is being naughty and bullying Taiwan, so we have to tell them off for that and the USA is getting all fraidy-cat because of a few sheep sales and knocking over embassies which belong to China. Bringing up children is easier than getting these two to be good world citizens.

Anyway, they will have a nice get-together here, the weather will be great then so they'll feel happy. Then, they will agree on Taiwan, compensation for the embassy bombing and murder of 3 people, trade and China can start buying $100bn of cdmaOne, cdma2000 and other stuff from Qualcomm. I'll go down to wave a sign saying "Liberate cdma2000 NOW!!"

Meanwhile, this clip from the FCC comments affirms that the USA politicians set an absurd concept in train when they initiated the rules for the C-block auction. It seems like another impediment to free trade. There isn't even free trade WITHIN the USA let alone outside it.

PS: OT on Thread Entropy. Jason, please don't stay here from now on unless you can get to grips with the idea that your post, while enthusiastic about how nice and clear this new thread is, was an example of exactly what causes the deterioration and increase in 'entropy' as Morgan calls it. So, how about using the Private Mail function for "Thanks". There sure is a lot of entropy in human transactions. Look at the entropy Bill C and Jiang Z are causing!

Also, JGoren, while your enthusiastic discipline is aimed at keeping things pure, how about PMing people because your posts themselves are becoming part of the problem. Or, we could leave it to Ramsey to achieve the distinction of being the most Thread Nazi guy in SI and heap opprobrium on him when our excitement, witty comments, interesting sidebars, hagfish lead us astray into unacceptable entropy and we get unjustifiably picked on.
