Affy claims detection of a few mRNA transcripts per cell...the post of mine you linked to said a single transcript for the Hyseq chip...I think Gene Logic claims one or two...but this is silly: We have just been exposed to some of the jargon-- I have no concept of what sort of noise is generated when they try to measure expression, heck, I'd probably embarass myself if I tried to define "Sequencing by Hybridization". I'll just keep reading what I find...some of this will stick...and maybe I will guess right. If the time has come for the smaller biotechs to have their day, we can be right for the wrong reasons. Right now I have my fingers crossed for Magainin...if I get some fresh cash I'll have to spend a couple hours with my Hyseq folder and maybe buy my shares back for the second or third time now--and the stock has been drifting down on light volume anyway so I'm not in a panic to get back in.
