Options info for TomatoHeads

Sheesh! Watch out for options, my friend. They are the 48" chainsaw of the investing world. Great power tool, if you don't cut your leg off.

A LEAP is just an option that expires more than 9 months out. When the time decays to less than 9 months, nothing happens- it just joins the regular series. No big deal.

I like "Options as a Strategic Investment" by Lawrence G. McMillan. $50.

Given that IBM is a great buy-and-hold candidate, pays a dividend, and a hundred shares is a load of cash- I wonder about buying leaps on IBM if you don't know how to find the quote!

I'm no options pro. I have been making minor options trades to learn the ropes, in anticipation of the day when I will really need or want to know how they work for a special situation.
