Re: NSOL. Since Steve may not be around at the moment, I'll give my thoughts on the stock. I don't cover it at all, so I don't know much. Bank Robertson Stephens' Net guru Keith Benjamin touts it all the time. I don't have the financials on hand but the gross margins are huge.

They have a monopoly and give credit to their management for shielding them from free market forces as long as possible. I never thought they could last this long as sole registrar. But now as register.com and other test bed registrars go online, there should be pricing pressures. But, NSOL has lobbied *very* heavily to attack and refuse to cooperate with ICANN (commission to regulate all this stuff) so the switch from being a gov't-subsidized entity is going slowly.

Their database is priceless. But let me tell you about SPAM. NSOL, more than any other company I've ever dealt with, sells their lists to SPAM HARVESTERS. I have several domain names listed with them. I've had all kinds of mail offers for Net-oriented products and services I do not want. I wish they would quit harassing us. They're worse than the post office, selling so much of our demographic information without our permission and making a bundle of money off it. I would rather they make money by offering a valuable service. And as anyone who's had to contact NSOL regarding technical difficulties or personalized service, they treat customers like garbage.

Cheers,
George netconductor.com
