Gary, nice writeup. Many people tend to misunderstand the Wash Sale rule. They fail to understand that the concept of "basis adjustmet", which in most cases, is tantamount to "loss deduction". Besides, if you are a trader and decides to elect "Mark to Market", the entire Wash Sale rule becomes totally moot.
