Telos Introduces Solutions to Find and Plug Holes in On-line Security

ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 1999--

Security Review, Firewall Solutions Enable E-business

Without Fear

Telos(R) Corporation today announced the release of two security solutions that enable and support online business.

Telos' Impervia(TM) SecurReview(TM) uncovers weaknesses in an organization's security architecture quickly and affordably. The company's Impervia(TM) SecurWall(TM) Suite guards the connection points between elements of a network, including the junction where an internal network meets the Internet. Both are members of Telos' Impervia(TM) family of fixed-price information security solutions supporting e-business.

Telos' Director of Information Assurance Operations, Rick Tracy, said that the increasing reliance on the Internet for e-commerce and communications results in a growing risk of critical data being damaged or stolen. "It's clear that e-business brings tremendous benefits in terms of saving time, reducing inventory, and increasing readiness and flexibility," Tracy said. "But one of the main impediments to e-business is users' concerns about security. Telos' Impervia(TM) solutions enable on-line interaction by identifying weaknesses, establishing policies, and providing intelligent access to information. And we deliver them for a fixed-price within a specific time frame, so that management can plan and budget accurately."

Telos' Impervia(TM) SecurReview is a rapid assessment of system vulnerabilities. Telos engineers, using industry standard methods, as well as some of the tools employed by hackers, test critical systems

-- such as Web, human resources, or financial servers --for security flaws. The key findings are reported within three weeks, and an in-depth debriefing prioritizes the risks and provides expert recommendations for shoring up system defenses.

Telos' Impervia(TM) SecurWall Suite of firewall solutions addresses three types of environments: those requiring high assurance, those with high performance demands, and those where security and data throughput requirements are lower and ease of management and configuration are the main concerns. "Our engineers have chosen the industry's best third-party products in several categories. Then we surround those products with our expertise and unique security methodology. The result is higher security and greater satisfaction, because our users' expectations are met precisely," Tracy said.

Telos' security methodology is an essential element of each SecurWall solution, according to Tracy. "For each customer, we develop a security policy, implement tools to support that policy, then test the system to ensure it meets the policy's standards," he explained. "By following our methodology precisely, we can deliver a superior solution on time, every time."

Tracy said that Telos' long experience in information security has led to the creation of the company's Impervia(TM) solutions. "We've been solving information security problems for the Department of Defense, civilian agencies, state and local governments, as well as commercial companies for more than a decade. From that experience, we have developed fixed-price e-business solutions that address real-world problems quickly and cost-effectively," Tracy stated.

SecurReview and SecurWall are part of the Impervia(TM) line of Information Assurance solutions available exclusively from Telos. Government agencies can purchase Impervia(TM) solutions through a number of Telos' federal contract vehicles. For more information, visit the corporate Web site at telos.com or call 800-70-TELOS.
