Actually, I classify myself as a "Libertarian", which is almost the diametric opposite of "liberal". I do not consider the Social Security an insurance system as it was originally designed to be, since, I know that I myself will never see a penny of it. After all, for each $2 dollar I will earn above $9000 (I think that is the right number) they cut off $1 in "benefits", even if I assume that my "benefits" should be let say $18,000/year (since for the last 30 years plus I always paid the "max"), my earnings are not expected to drop under that well into my seventies (if I am still alive <VBG>). That is why I consider the "employment taxes" just another form of income taxes.
