Mon 26 Jul 99 News Release
Mr. Clive Massey reports
The detailed dipole-dipole induced polarization survey has been completed
over the previously announced gradient IP anomaly on the company's Spider
Lake project in Northwestern Ontario. This detailed survey has clearly
outlined two high-priority zones of chargeability/resistivity that are
associated with the Starhill and Prairie West base metal occurrences. The
survey also indicates that the source of these geophysical anomalies
extends both along strike and to depth, and that the signatures are
consistent with zinc-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide settings.
The Starhill zone is part of an east-west trending IP anomaly that has an
interpreted source measuring 1,200 metres long by 100 metres wide. The
actual Starhill showing, which returned 7.4 per cent zinc, 1.94 per cent
lead, 1.54 per cent copper, 101 grams per tonne silver and 0.87 grams per
tonne gold from grab sampling, occurs on the northern flank of the IP
anomaly. Furthermore, the mineralization that has been discovered so far
does not appear to fully explain the size and intensity of this IP anomaly.
The Prairie West showing is part of a northwesterly trending, open-end IP
anomaly (400 metres long by up to 100 metres wide) that extends to the
northern and eastern limits of the survey area. This anomaly is
geophysically similar to the Starhill IP anomaly 400 metres to the west.
The Prairie West occurrence, which returned values of up to 10.25 per cent
zinc, 1.05 per cent copper, 54.8 grams per tonne silver and 1.4 grams per
tonne gold from grab samples, appears to be on the northeastern flank of
this IP anomaly.
The volcanic rocks that host the Starhill and Prairie West zones are
geologically similar to those hosting the Winston Lake VMS deposit (three
million tons of 15.6 per cent zinc and 1.1 per cent copper) 50 kilometres
northwest.
The company plans to further test these two high-priority geophysical
anomalies with a program of trenching, followed by diamond drilling, that
is scheduled to commence later this year.
