If Yahoo hadn't trashed my post...
it might have looked like this:

High Noon For Gene Therapy

The article focuses on hemophilia, but a good read
...and anything with Wilson in there catches my eye.

signalsmag.com
"We are now in the era of the adeno-associated virus (AAV).
This tiny virus, which can only replicate in the presence of
adenovirus (hence the name), seems ideal. It infects both
dividing and non-dividing cells; it causes far less of an
immune response than the adenovirus; and it apparently
integrates its DNA package into the genome of host cells,
leading to long-lasting expression. And AAV does not cause
any disease, as far as anyone knows, so it appears safer
than other viral vectors."

I had visions of selling a nice chunk of Magainin today
and grabbing another "third" of Ariad...but it was not
to be. And what a shame...toward the end of the session
there my shares were...10k of them dumped at 1 1/8th,
asking 1 3/16ths.

Yup, I actually hold 20k shares of this puppy, nearly a
quarter of my stock holdings...I don't call the portfolio
"Mike's Microcap Madness" for nothing.

Anyway, enough chit chat...read the Signals article, it will
remind you of the incredible challenges of gene therapy...but
then go back and read the pnas paper to cheer you up. That is
what I did*. No, I wont be grabbing any additional shares, but
I still have high hopes for Ariad.

High hopes at high noon...Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

the PNAS abstract again...

*correction...I only have the abstract...would love to
read the paper though.
