Does this mean Discover will not sell you the stock on margin? I do not have a cash surplus in my account, but I certainly have the required amount of marginable shares." I suspect it's much more likely that you just weren't fast enough, or something like that. Of course IPO stock is not itself marginable, but if you had other marginable shares, that should be sufficient for Discover. But it's essentially impossible to figure out what scheme they use to dole out their goodies.... I didn't get any Drugstore, or any Ariba either. So it goes. It must be at least somewhat random. I did get 100 shares of Ask Jeeves, which gave a moderately decent answer to the question "Will I make money on the Ask Jeeves IPO?" Dick
