I am wondering whether there is a crack in the Intel armour based on the characteristics of the K6 and the ability to manufacture significant numbers of these chips. My concern is that it actually does run much cooler than even a vanilla Pentium, and that is outperforms the Pro in both floating point and integer based tests. If these reports are true, it will be hard for Intel to counter. The Pentium II is not only slower, but cost more. Pentium Pro will still be king of the server market but what does Polywell want with K6? That has me very curious because they are a well-known and well-respected server company. I just have the feeling that K6 is more than just smoke-and-mirrors and would like an external viewpoint. Maybe I am getting paranoid about this, could be, that's the Intel way.
