America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL), the world's leading interactive services company, today launched ClassifiedPlus, its next-generation classified advertising area that will become the best place to buy, sell and trade online.

ClassifiedPlus, now available across America Online, AOL.COM, Digital City and Netscape Netcenter, will enable AOL's more than 17 million members, as well as the more than 41 million monthly visitors to AOL's Web-based brands, to browse millions of listings in 10 major categories including jobs, vehicles, real estate, computers, personals and auctions.

In addition to the 10 major consumer listing categories, ClassifiedPlus will offer classifieds content from REALTOR.COM, CommercialSource.com, HomeBuilder.com, SpringStreet.com, Apartment Guide, AutoConnect, Rent Net, Net-temps, Techies.com, Jobs.com & Webhire, and access to eBay. All content can be searched by location.

ClassifiedPlus, which represents a broad upgrade of the existing AOL Classifieds area, will put ads posted on ClassifiedPlus in front of millions of additional potential buyers, making ClassifiedPlus a powerful -- and lower-cost -- alternative to traditional newspaper classifieds.

Barry Schuler, President of AOL Interactive Services, said: ''We've designed ClassifiedPlus to take online classified advertising to the next level, blending AOL's hallmark ease-of-use and innovative content with truly unparalleled reach for advertisers.

''With classifieds users increasingly seeking a powerful online alternative, ClassifiedPlus is positioned to stake a major claim in this fast-growing market.''

Mr. Schuler added: ''ClassifiedPlus represents just the latest step in our continued efforts to make AOL even more central to the everyday lives of our members. It builds on the growing popularity of person-to-person e-commerce, and gives both current AOL Classifieds customers, as well as novices, every reason to participate in this new way of buying, selling and trading online.''

The ClassifiedPlus technology incorporates suggestions from current AOL Classifieds members. All content on ClassifiedPlus is browsable by location and can be sorted and re-filtered to customize searches.

Photos can be attached to user listings, free Bulletin Boards and biweekly newsletters are provided to help build the online ClassifiedPlus community, and a national customer service team is available to help.

ClassifiedPlus also offers free personals from Love@AOL, the No. 1 personals site on the Web, and in the future will offer ClassiFetch(TM), which allows users to request that items not available in ClassifiedPlus be ''fetched'' when they are eventually listed.

ClassifiedPlus is available to advertisers at low biweekly, monthly or annual rates, well below most newspaper classifieds fees. Prices will be lower than current AOL Classifieds in most product categories, and AOL members will receive additional discounts on listings.
