BROCADE..( announced June 21/99 ).
I am not in a position to draw any conclusions as to the circumstances/reasons for IBM's selection. I only have 2 observations, both of which may or may not have factored into the selection process:
1. IBM was in the process of buying Sequent
2. Brocade's Vice-President of Sales immediately prior to joining Brocade was a sales executive for IBM Systems Storage Division:
<<Charles Smith, Vice President of World Wide Sales Charlie Smith's 15 years of sales, marketing, and management experience spans industry start-ups to high-profile companies. His experience includes OEM, large account, manufacturing representative, systems integration, and VAR channels in high-performance storage subsystem, mass storage, and peripheral markets. Most recently Smith was Director of Corporate Account Sales for IBM's Storage Systems Division. In addition, Smith was Vice President U.S. Sales, Western Region, for Conner Peripherals and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Parallel Technology. He previously held sales positions at NEC Information Systems and Ricoh Systems.>> |
