Not really a trip report, but useful anyway. I received today an order of ovr $1000 worth of paddling gear from rei.com, stuff I've been trying to get for a long time, but couldn't. I would recommend them strongly to anyone who doesn't have easy access to a specialty outdoor shop: good variety of stuff on the site, excellent prices, and extremely pleasant people to deal with. Very professional and extremely responsive: every e-mail I sent to them had an answer the next day. I was an REI member (it's a co-op, and you get a refund on all purchases, usually around 10%, at the end of the year) back in the late '70's, and I'm glad to see they've kept the faith. Planning a camping gear order already. Not one really decent gear shop in this country, and prices are ridiculous. Now I know how to get around that!
