Doug, you did not provide sufficient information about that "allien" stuff", so no comment from here. As for the zerror, if you plan to "rain the meteorite back" it is not that easy. If you bring the chunks down in small bunches and manage to target them right (not an easy task by itself) well, you'll get "rain" alright since the friction will get the temperature above the melting point of gold. If you bring down the stuff in big chunks like a ton at a time, you'd better make sure you a good digging crew to recover the stuff. My assumption was that you use a shuttle to bring it down few tons at a time, and the weight of the shuttle will be at least twice the weight of its cargo, thus the very high cost of the venture.
