Thanks for your comments on SIII. Now, I understand better why they may fit into this market where INTC has WHitney and AMD needs partners.

As for your comments about fab - that is S3s strength and one of the reasons why I finally got into S3. They own significant % of UMC because of their USC holdings and are sitting on marketable securities greater than the stock price. (i.e., their core biz is selling for a -ve value)

One thing that I think may not spell good for AMD (and more so for INTC) going forward is that S3 is talking about doing a super integrated chip a la Timna with VIA/CYRX as a follow on to their current partnership with VIA. I am watching the whole VIA thing carefully to see where this market might go.
