Agreement Brings High-Performance Internet Streaming Video to Desktops
BOHEMIA, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1999-- VillageNet Inc., which recently merged into Big City Bagels (OTC BB: VILN - news) today announced a partnership agreement to distribute Enron Communications' ePowered Media Cast(TM) to VillageNet's current Internet client roster of educational, consumer and individual customers.
ePowered Media Cast delivers real-time streaming video to the desktop at an average bit-rate speed of 200 kbps - 10 times faster than what is currently available on the public Internet. The service is enabled by VillageNet's high-speed Internet connections in conjunction with the Enron Intelligent Network (EIN), a state of the art application delivery platform for innovative high bit rate applications like streaming multimedia content and network hosted applications. VillageNet's users, who log onto and do all Internet activities through community-oriented and based portals, will receive the content directly from VillageNet without traversing the public Internet.
